Hypoglycaemic, it's my new word, now I know about hypoglycaemic I can cope with just about anything. Basically, when your body sugar level drops below a certain level you get really ratty, you lose the power of rational thought and you're no good to anyone. Your brain sends out super loud messages "give me chocolate now!" or "I want sugar!" or "crisps!" but you have to just not listen. If you eat that stuff it just gives you a sugar rush, you feel all funny and then you're back where you started. What you need is carbohydrates, so that's two new words. Carbohydrates is pasta or bread and stuff like that, things I thought were really fattening. But you have to eat them because your brain is telling you to. Trouble is, kids don't know about any of this stuff, they are not rational, so they just starting being horrible and screaming and by then it's too late and you'll never get your shopping done without yelling at them in the biscuit aisle in the supermarket. So my advice is take them somewhere decent and get something good in them before you start. It doesn't have to be boring, mine actually quite like a proper fluffy baked potato with cheese and beans. That's all it takes for an easy life; hypoglycaemic, carbohydrates and a potato.
